I’m hoping that Europe gets moving again with solar power installations. They led the world for a while, then had to slow as economic challenges gripped so many countries. Really though – it’d be nice to see China, India, Japan, Europe and the US growing at a decent clip at the same time. It’s going to be tough for China to grow again, and it looks like the US and INdia might be subdued in 2018…but we’ll see. Some suggest as much as 126 GW – while the professionals seem to have settled between 104-113 GW.

SOURCEInverter shipments in Europe suggest the continent is braced for another strong period of growth in 2018. GTM Research’s global inverter report highlighted shipment growth of 34% in 2017 outstripping growth in European PV deployment of 8%. GTM senior analyst Scott Moskowitz explained that while there was some nuance to the relationship between inverter shipments and fluctuating PV deployment, the signal was much clearer during periods of sustained growth. “With Europe it’s so obvious, shipments are exceeding installations by so much, and they did so the prior year as well, that it is obvious that it implies near term growth,” he told PV Tech.
